Bits from Orlando Interview, The Face (UK), August 2003
typed by Sue

At the very beginning he tells a very funny story about being in a private jet with Johnny, Johnny's assistant, Jerry Bruckheimer and his wife... and all of them being completely drunk... screamingly so. By the time they got to St Kitts to be met by the Prime Minister of theisland, Johnny was doing impressions of him and Orlando was on his bent double crying with laughter! He describes this as "Sounds like movie star Hollywood wank, doesn't it?" and grins!

He's in London to buy a house and is taking Samantha with him, after they've had lunch together. The house is south of the river "Which will make getting a black cab home a f*cking nightmare" and he's a bit wary that he might be stretching the pounds a bit.

He's described in a super way - 'Orlando's deep Mediterranean tan, his health sheen and the golden furs lapping around his forearms. Part boy, part man, part androgneous sex-oozing god, its no wonder people are starting to point'

It mentions that Sonia once rode a donkey across Mexico for kicks and helped Russia set up it's first PGA junior championship. He also mentions a love of the Beano (a super comic) and that he had no idea who the Spice Girls were at the time...

A lot of it is general chat, and he's very casual, probably because the interviewer would have been his age, they mostly are on The Face.

At the end they arrive at the place he's eating at with Sam and he's late...and she's there waiting, looking at her watch!!! "I've kept her waiting...how am I going to pull this one off?"

His back gets about four lines, where he mentions the humilation of being moved by four nurses and having them wash him and do everything else.

'Until the age of 13 Orlando Bloom believed his father was Harry Bloom, who died when OB was four. (Goes on to describe Harry) "When my father died, Colin (Stone) was made my legal guardian. He was always a close family friend, but I always thougth Harry was my biological father." Then, one afternoon when they were on holiday, Orlando's mum sat him and his sister down. "I found out that Colin was my real father. Not Harry. But Colin." That must have been, well, a surprise? "It was, it was..." He hunches up; draws his arms close. Sharp eyes dart over to the far righthand entrance to the square. "Look, is that my best mate Chris? No, he quit smoking..." He starts to stare at his left knee, as if shy, or as if it might hold some deflective answer he can source up from his own body. "It's an unusual story but then, you show me a family and I'll show you an unusual story. Maybe we should go shopping. I need a hat for the sun..." '
