Diana's Review of the TTT LA Premiere December 15, 2002
Well still all aglow from yesterday!
No Marton Csokas
but dammit there was some fine Orlando, Viggo, and Karl there to satisfy me.
They had us fans (only about 100) barricaded across the street from the
arclight. Traffic was still continued so not only were we 7 lanes away from the
red carpet, but we had to contend with SUV's and trucks slowly moving by. Plus,
security had flooded our side of the street to deter us. I affectionately called
this "the moat". The only actors to brave the moat was the very gracious John
(Gimli), Dom (Merry), and Orlando (Legolas).
Too many shouting girls but
I can't blame them for being excited. Except why would someone yell, "Orlando, I
want your sperm!" Kind of embarassing don't you think?
Anyhow I felt
sorry for Orlando because he actually was perched on the curb to get closer to
the fans and to avoid the moat, but while he's doing this he has to grab a hold
to the steel barricade and plus he's getting shrill screams in his
ears.
In front of me a girl begged for a picture and he graciously
declined, "Sorry, luv, I can't I can't", then he gave a sort of pained
expression and said, "Alright." He quickly nodded, "Take it, take the picture."
Meanwhile he's trying to balance himself so I see this and as a reflex reach out
my hand to steady him as if to say, "It's alright. I got ya."
So then he
turns to see who I was and I blinded him with the flash of my camera...sigh...so
I FLASHED Orlando Bloom.
Viggo and Karl were across the street. They
looked fabulous of course and many times Viggo would talk to Karl. At one point
Viggo took a camera and was taking pictures.
Other people I saw, Billy
(in a kilt), Elijah, Miranda, Liv, Andy, Howard Shore, Sean, and others. Really
it was a treat. I had never gone to a premiere before so it was a first time
experience.
My friend (Ewan) and I were laughing at the camera men
because they were filming all these screaming gals and then of course the
director points to me and comes over and says, "alright you scream!" So then all
I could do was laugh hysterically shaking my head "no way".
I was very
happy to be out there to support the film. And I really can't blame all
those girls for screaming but I had more fun observing everything and taking
pictures...sigh...I'm just getting too old...those youngins had so much
energy.
