Private 1st Class Todd Blackburn is only 18 years old and a newcomer to the
war scene. As a part of the Delta force soldiers, he is sent to Somalia to help
hundreds of thousands of Somalis suffering from starvation. When he arrives in
Somalia, Blackburn is put under the command of Lieutenant Beales. But after,
Beales suffers from a seizure and is sent home. Sergeant Eversmann (Hartnett)
is put in charge. Having never seen actual war, Blackburn is both eager and
excited when his force troop is sent on a mission to capture the violent and
corrupted warlord who is responsible for the Somalis' suffering.
Blackburn, along with Eversmann, travels to the mission location on one of the
Black Hawks, or helicopters. On arrival, the troops slide down ropes from the
helicopters to the ground. As Blackburn goes for the rope, the helicopter is
fired at and dodges to avoid it. But, in doing so Blackburn misses the rope
and falls to the ground where he is knocked unconscious and is the first of
the many wounded on the mission. The severity of his injuries is unknown, but
later we learn that he did live. So, Blackburn never does get his chance to
fight that day.
(Bio by Viviani)
The real Todd Blackburn recovered from the injuries he received falling from the helicopter, and is now a police officer living in Pensacola, Florida.
